Message: For my money, you still wrote the best RPG rules-set ever, with only john tweet's Over the Edge coming close second. I don't think you can make a computer game Better, but I'm biased. I get nowhere near the joys (or the memories) out of a computer game that I get out of throwing dice. Computer Game: "Hey, did you play Metal Gear Solid 4?" "Why, yes, I did the exact same thing you did." "Weren't the graphics great?" "Yes, they were." "Well, I've got nothing else to say about that." Tabletop RPG: "Hey, here's a story about my old character from 15 years ago... ah, great memories *tells funny story about asking Greg Morrison the name of every NPC in the game, thus driving him crazy.*" "Hah, sounds like a great game! *other person tells funny story about Cthulhu game, and asking the newbie 'so, what's that book say?'*" Yes, I'm a luddite, but, really, computer games BORE me after an hour. ;-) (This is every WoW game ever. *Player in common area* "I need two tanks a healer and a distance guy. I want the 'Magic Winkie of Great Awesomeness,' and you guys can have the rest of the schwag." *players join* *everyone walks across map for 20 minutes* *everyone clicks left mouse button a lot. pretty graphics happen* *everyone walks across the map for 5 minutes* *Everyone clicks left mouse button a lot. Pretty graphics happen* (someone levels up) *repeat until you have everything in the game* *Wait for Blizzard to realease expansion pack* *Player in common area* "I need two tanks a healer and a distance guy. I want the 'New Improved Magic Winkie of Even More Great Awesomeness,' and you guys can have the rest of the schwag.") But I digress into sarcasm. Yours, Triem23 (Mike) Message Replies: |
