Message:Reminds me of several games designed by SPI (at the end), where the game board (play surface) is made with tiles that form lines and patterns.
Might benefit from a whodunit extra where the players are also trying to sabotage each other or even push someone else to break, to murder for gold, adding the Bogart element of grift. The further along the river (or space trek) the adventure goes the jeopardy increases, Treasure of Sierra Madre? Do we save the mission, ourselves and our gold, or ensure no one here gets out alive!
Maybe choose secretly at start from a set number: Three mission, two money, one helter skelter. And then you will guess as players reveal their intentions which to push into the airlock before the others. A dead player might still win if he was a mission successful goal and gave his life.
Our elder gaming group enjoys a bit of carnage; agreed not all players broadly do.
Yours,
