Game Night 10 June 2025 -- A Riddle inside a Conundrum ....
Message:
Through careful and clever planning, the game "Slay the Spire" was selected to play this week.

It is a hot game at this time. It was described as a co-op "Rogue Like" game. It's kinda' RPG adjacent. With a ton of cards and monster types and options.
I can see the appeal and it is a monstrous game. For some reason the presentation to me is only mediocre. In today's world of glitz and pizazz, this one is a bit meh. I would certainly play it again and it will get better over time.
But, as in all good games, that was not the game for this evening. Dylan had invited me to participate in a scheme to surprise his lady beloved Ivy. Ivy had spent the past few weeks schooling us in Res Arcana and other games. Tough gamer. She would not be easy to surprise.
Dylan had fabricated a card requesting her hand in marriage and needed to have it secreted into her character deck for the surprise to be complete.
Now, I have never played the game. I don't know which deck is which and the card had been passed to me to deploy it. Further, we had a 4th player who knew nothing of the conspiracy and could give away the deception at just the wrong moment.
Well, I've seen Penn and Teller. I need say no more. "Palm, Ditch, Steal, Load, Simulation, Misdirection, and Switch". To be fair, I did put the card on the deck with the back rotated. She had carefully straightened her other cards and this was the one card in the wrong direction. That's the kinda' stuff that gets a gamer caught.
The card was deployed. But, how to signal success.

(A gamer needs to be prepared.)
The card rested undisturbed for a good 30 minutes as we killed some mobs and acted like a normal night. When she finally drew the card which would allow her to draw "the" card, Dylan leapt into action.
The room erupted in cheers. It was one for the books.
Four tables roared through the evening. This gaming thing could become something.
I highly recommend it.
Yours,
